Home Made Gujiha

Ingredients
  

  • For the Dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour maida
  • 4 tablespoons ghee clarified butter
  • Water as needed
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 cup grated khoya mawa
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts almonds, cashews, pistachios
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Dough:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and ghee.
  • Rub the ghee into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a firm dough.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Prepare the Filling:
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the grated khoya, powdered sugar, chopped nuts, and cardamom powder until well combined.
  • Set aside the filling mixture.
  • Shape the Gujihas:
  • After the dough has rested, divide it into small lemon-sized balls.
  • Roll out each ball into a small disc, approximately 3-4 inches in diameter.
  • Place a spoonful of the prepared filling in the center of each disc.
  • Fold the disc over the filling to form a half-moon shape.
  • Seal the edges by pressing them together or using a fork to create a decorative pattern.
  • Fry the Gujihas:
  • Heat oil in a deep pan or kadhai over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in the stuffed gujihas, a few at a time.
  • Fry the gujihas until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides, flipping them occasionally for even cooking.
  • Remove the fried gujihas using a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
  • Serve and Enjoy  your Homemade Gujiha.
  • Allow the gujihas to cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve them warm or at room temperature, garnished with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or chopped nuts.
