Nimona /Fresh green peas curry

Nimona (fresh green peas curry)

Nimona fresh green peas curry is a gravy dish made from fresh green peas.Nimona is an Awadhi dish.

What we need

1 cup fresh or frozen green peas

1 medium size potato (peel and chopped in small cube)IMG_2950

1 medium size onion (1/2 for tomato paste and 1/2 finely chopped)

1-inch long ginger

4 tomato

3 clove garlic

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp cumin seed

1 pinches hing (asafoetida)

2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

2 cup water

salt

chopped fresh coriander

2-4 chopped green chilli (optional)

 

 

How to make

Make a coarse paste of peas and keep aside. Grind tomato,1/2  onion, ginger, garlic make a fine paste.

 

Now take a pan add oil when oil is hot add cumin, chopped onion cook till onion turn brown add chopped potato fry 2-3 minute.

.Add turmeric and tomato paste, coriander powder red chilli powder salt and cook till oil is separated.

 

Add peas paste and stir for the 4-5 minute add water(you can add water according to how thick or thin gravy you want) and bring it boil then cook it on low flame for 10-15 min till curry thicker. Turn off the flame add garam masala and chopped coriander.

serve hot with roti, paratha or steam rice.
