Chole/Chickpea Curry Recipe

Chole Recipe

Chole is a very common and popular dish in a street food stall and home kitchen in north India. Most commonly chole is paired with bhatura or steamed rice. My delicious and easy recipe for Chole/Chickpea Curry /chana masala, Panjabi chole. You can take any name but is id delicious so enjoy Chole/Chickpea Curry /chana masala, Panjabi chole.

What we need:

  • 1 cup Chickpeas soaked overnight or 6-7 hours chole
  • 3 big tomato chopped
  • 1 onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 1 tablespoon dry mango powder (you can use lemon juice)
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon, turmeric
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon chole masala

How to make:

Boil the chickpeas in a pressure cooker with 5 cups of water and bay leaves, turmeric powder, salt. Give 4-5 whistle or until chickpeas become soft.

If you want, you can add 1 tea bag. (Remove the tea bag immediately after the pressure is released).

In a mixer jar, put 2 chopped tomato, onion, garlic, ginger and grind to make a fine paste.

Sauté until oil is separated now add boiled chickpeas with water and mix, add some water if needed, taste salt add some if needed.

Close the lid and give one whistle.

Open and mix with ladle while mixing mash some chickpeas.

Transfer into serving dish garnish with onion and coriander leaves. Serve with hot bhatura or rice. Click on the below link for the Bhatura recipe.
